Tunisian weddings are a week-long event with several different ceremonies. The ceremony in these pictures is the Outia ceremony.

The bride is wearing traditional Tunisian clothing from Nabeul, it is completely embroidered with silver sequins.

The bride has leaves on her head that are there to protect her from the evil eye.

  3. Hey Shorouk,

Your blog is so addicting! I am always here at least once a day haha =) I especially like these Tunisian posts about the culture, the food, the clothing. I love the richness of the colours and embroidery here, I also really like the traditional aspects of Tunisian weddings!

I was wondering if you could do a post (or just comment) on traditional Tunisian natural beauty recipes? North Africa is such a wealth of beauty!

    Thanks so much!

    - Mariam

PS - What is the Tunisian name of the outfit that your grandmother Habiba is wearing?
